Who We Are . . .
The National Stuttering Association is a non-profit organization formed in 1977 that is dedicated to bringing hope, dignity, support, education, and empowerment to children and adults who stutter.

The NSA is the largest self-help and support organization for people who stutter in the U.S., with over 2800 members. The NSA operates a volunteer network of over 80 local support groups. The Denver Chapter is one of those groups.

The Denver Chapter . . .
was founded in February 1993. Our motto, "Reach Your Summit" was the theme of the 1996 NSA National Convention, hosted by our Chapter. Since reconstituting in 2005, we have about 15 active members. Our monthly meetings are attended by 6 to 10 people.

We are a support, self-help and advocacy group. While some chapter members are undergoing or have completed formal speech therapy programs, the NSA is not a therapy group.  Participants are encouraged to use meetings to try out new communication behaviors, but talking at meetings is voluntary.
